Success Stories from Past Events
As you can see on our Campaign Partners page, the Falls Campaign seeks to engage organizations, worker safety groups, construction companies, and other stakeholders on both a national and local level. We are eager to see our partners conducting activities to raise awareness about fall hazards and protection and to educate contractors and workers on how to prevent falls on jobsites.
When we hear about a dynamic event, we sometimes create a “Success Story” – a short report with photos describing what the partner groups did and what they achieved. Take a moment to read a few Success Stories for ideas on activities you can conduct. You can also submit information about your Stand-Down if you’d like your event to be considered to be featured here.

National “Stand-Down” Event
The 13th annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction will take place May 4th-8th, 2026. The Stand-Down is an opportunity to pause work to improve fall prevention planning and talk about fall safety with crews, crew leaders, and everyone on your jobsite. Employers have conversation with workers about fall hazards, protective methods, and the company’s safety policies, goals and expectations. Workers learn about fall prevention and protection, talk to management about fall hazards they see, and provide input about how to improve safety at work.

Evaluation
The Falls Campaign is an evidence-based campaign that depends on ongoing evaluation. Evaluation is performed through a range of methods, and data are shared below.
All of the following evaluation products are currently only available in English.
2024 Stand-Down Key Findings
Read key findings about the 2024 National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction here, or review a Full Report for additional information:
There was widespread national and international participation: 3,994 stand-downs reached 415,793 workers.
The 2024 Stand-Down reported the second largest number of events recorded in the Stand-Down’s history. The number of total individual stand-downs held rose by 12% compared with 2023. A factor in this increase was a 74% increase in events held in the “other construction” sector compared with 2023. An additional factor was an increase in reported events in Puerto Rico and Guam; 59% of the total increase in events in 2024 can be attributed to events in these territories.
The 2024 Stand-Down reported the lowest number of workers reached in the event’s history, but the number of workers reached domestically did not shift compared with 2023. The overall number of workers reached fell by 10% compared with 2023. Central factors in this decrease were a 42% drop in international workers reached and 60% decline in workers reached in the “government” sector compared with 2023.
Multiple indicators suggest continued limited reach among the Stand-Down priority groups of residential construction workers and Spanish-speaking workers, although there was an increase in small events held.
Participants described hosting successful Stand-Down events and reported positive experiences. Events commonly included activities such as training, meetings/huddles, and toolbox talks. The most-mentioned topics were fall protection, ladders, and inspections.
Annual CPWR Analyses of OSHA Collected Stand-Down Participation Data
During each annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, OSHA offers certificates of participation for companies that hold their own events. When companies register to receive a certificate, they are asked information about their event, such as how many workers attended, what they did in their event, and what recommendations they have for future events. CPWR analyzes these data annually to produce factsheets and full reports.
In 2017, CPWR asked the Center on Network Science (CNS) at the University of Colorado Denver to conduct a Social Network Analysis (SNA) (English) on the network that has been developed through the Falls Campaign. CNS conducted the SNA using an online survey of known Campaign partners via the PARTNER Tool (English).
Hardhat Sticker Information
CPWR has been disseminating fall-related Hazard Alert Cards in the months leading up to the annual Stand-Down since 2014, as well as Stand-Down hardhat stickers since 2015. With the introduction of an online ordering form in 2017 and coordinated promotion with OSHA and NIOSH, we have seen increases in the number of orders each year. In 2019, we disseminated all 375,000 stickers we had printed, and even began sending out the artwork for companies to print their own stickers.
